Bible Reading: Jer. 35:1-6
But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever.
Fathers are God’s ambassadors set and sent into families and societies whose job is to ensure that the next generation is raised according to the expectation and need of God for their time. No society can do without them.
There is a fathering spirit and grace to execute the job of the fathers and it is not synonymous with or found in all men (male man). You will also know that not all men are fathers. That you can sleep with a woman and have a baby as a result of that does not make you a father.
The ministry of the father is foundational to a functional home and stable society that is void of violence.
Fathers wield the rod of natural and spiritual discipline in the home and society. And that is why fatherhood is a spiritual calling.
Even though we have so many men and daddies in every households and societies, there are not many fathers.
I mean, there are fathers and there are fathers. Or rather, there are daddies and there are fathers, they are not the same.
Paul told the church in Corinth I know you have many daddies, but I am your father. That means your daddy is not necessarily your father. The one whose words, presence and life commands and put your own life in perspective is your father.
The sons of Jonadad don’t have access to better education, good environment, internet, twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media privilege but they were trained by their father to be a good product in the society.
I hope you have a father in your life.
Let Us Pray.
1. Thank you oh Lord for giving me the privilege of being a parent.
2. Oh lord My Father, help me never to fail you as a father and parent in the life of my children.
3. Thank you for answered prayers.
